Athletics is one of the greatest classrooms on campus We know that we re not here just to win races hit home runs and score touchdowns Even in the absence of competition our coaches and staff are committed to providing an education in life for the young men and women on our teams As you ll learn from this brochure COVID 19 has had a staggering effect on revenue to support our teams with the reduction in Football revenue hurting every sport Every coach has taken salary cuts We ve trimmed our operating budgets and furloughed staff Despite all these measures and more the Athletic Department still faces a deficit that exceeds 50 million a deficit that threatens the efforts we ve put into developing student athletes as great competitors great students and great human beings In this extraordinary year the strength of the Dawg is the pack Our 650 studentathletes and 22 teams and programs have united as ONE TEAM One Team is more than a fundraising effort as critical as that is to our ability to recruit retain compete and win in the future It s a philosophy that exemplifies the values we share as a Department We exist to develop student athletes into responsible and well rounded leaders who will go on to change the world In this brochure we illustrate the impact you make on student athletes and show you why you play such an important role in the future of Husky
